Quality Control Technician

Ward’s Hydraulic Services Ltd. located at Unit 1, 224 Cayer Street, Coquitlam, British Columbia, V3K 5B1 has a full-time, permanent position for a Quality Control Technologist at its manufacturing/assembly facility for fire suppression system components.

• Develop and implement quality assurance programs in the manufacturing/assembly of fire suppression system components (mechanical and electronic 24‑volt systems)
• Apply ISO 9001:2015 and FM 5970 regulatory requirements to the manufacturing environment
• Investigate all product and process failures and initiate corrective action, seeking management approval where required
• Oversee the company’s production processes to ensure they meet minimum quality standards and FM 5970 regulatory requirements
• Ensure that raw‑material and finished‑product checks are performed to comply with customer, organization, and regulatory requirements
• Approve finished products by evaluating their quality to determine which items meet the required standards for sale and which should be rejected or sent back for rework
• Prepare comprehensive quality‑control reports for management
• Provide feedback on manufacturing process improvements to the production manager
• Conduct comprehensive quality‑assessment tests on raw materials and finished products according to relevant guidelines
• Review blueprints and quality plans of our products
• Identify raw‑material defects or damage and apprise management
• Guide the purchasing personnel on the quality of components
• Collaborate with the production team to ensure all products meet the necessary standards and specifications

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Diploma or degree in Electronics Engineering

• Strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015 and FM 5970 in manufacturing
• Knowledgeable of basic quality‐assurance concepts, including quality‐control principles, methods, and systems
• Effective communication skills with colleagues and cross‑departmental teams
• Strong analytical skills to determine probable causes of product defects and appropriate corrective actions
• Excellent problem‑solving skills to identify potential causes of defects and devise corrective actions that eliminate or reduce defect risks
• Ability to work under pressure and time constraints while performing tasks efficiently
• Good interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, colleagues, and customers
• Strong organizational skills for scheduling, workload management, and prioritizing activities
• Ability to work independently and cooperate with other departments as needed
• Capability to handle complex, detailed, and multiple tasks simultaneously

• Salary: $38.46 per hour
