The Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Miami invites exceptional ornithologists to apply for the Robert
E. Maytag Chair of Ornithology. Applicants must be outstanding, internationally recognized scientists passionate about avian research and excellent teachers, with strong commitments to undergraduate and graduate education. Positions are considered at the ranks of Associate Professor (tenure‑eligible) and Professor (tenure‑eligible) with an expected start date of August 15, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program in ornithology.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, regularly teaching a course in ornithology.
- Engage actively in service to the department, the university, and the profession.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Biology or a related field.
- Strong record of ornithological research accomplishments and research funding.
- Excellent teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
