Position Overview

Gulliver Prep Middle School faculty are student‑centered educators who create dynamic, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences that foster intellectual curiosity, academic growth, and personal character development. They are compassionate professionals who understand the unique needs of early adolescents and contribute to a vibrant school culture grounded in data‑informed improvement, community belonging, and high expectations for all. Faculty collaborate closely with colleagues, families, and school leaders to help every student thrive in alignment with Gulliver’s mission and educational philosophy.

The Middle School Engineering & Computer Science department is seeking individuals possess a strong foundation in engineering principles, computer science, and project‑based learning. This role focuses on fostering hands‑on learning, critical thinking, and problem‑solving by integrating physical computing, programming, design, and robotics. Key instructional topics include physical computing with Micro: bit, mechanisms, computer‑aided design (CAD), 3D printing projects, programming in word blocks, Python, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, as well as building functional prototypes.

The curriculum seamlessly incorporates elements from established educational programs such as Project Lead the Way (PLTW), CodeHS, Code.org, FIRST, and VEX Robotics.

Job Responsibilities Academic Instruction & Curriculum Implementation
  • Plan and implement high‑quality lessons aligned with departmental standards and school‑wide curriculum goals.
  • Engage students through inquiry‑based learning, project work, collaboration, and the integration of technology.
  • Use developmentally appropriate practices that promote deeper understanding, skill development, and curiosity.
  • Contribute to curriculum review and refinement in partnership with the Department Chair and fellow faculty.
Student Learning & Well‑being
  • Regularly assess and monitor student progress using multiple forms of data and provide timely, targeted feedback.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social‑emotional, and developmental needs of middle school learners.
  • Foster a classroom culture that emphasizes respect, empathy, growth mindset, and student agency.
  • Participate as a teacher in the advisory program.
  • Partner with counselors, families, and student support teams to ensure all learners receive the encouragement and scaffolding they need to succeed.
