CoE - Advanced Materials Faculty Positions - All Ranks Job Summary

The College of Engineering at the University of Miami (Coral Gables, FL) invites nominations and applications for multiple open‑rank tenured/tenure‑track faculty positions (at all levels) in the area of Advanced Materials. The appointment may be in the Department of Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering, which houses ongoing work in material synthesis, catalysis and energy storage, or in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, which houses advanced additive manufacturing of polymer composites, multifunctional ceramics, and metallic laser powder bed fusion.

Joint appointments with other university departments are also possible. The search is open to all regions of Advanced Materials, including both structural and functional materials. Applicants with a specialization in computational modeling and simulation for catalysis and energy applications, and high‑throughput materials invention and development for extreme environments are of particular interest. Emphases include systems/data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, modern design and optimization, and molecular dynamics for catalysis, energy storage and conversion, smart materials and nanomaterials, multi‑functional polymer and ceramics, high‑entropy alloys, and bio‑inspired materials.

The College is especially interested in candidates who can contribute through research, teaching, and service to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidates should hold a Ph.D. in chemical engineering, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, or a relevant discipline, demonstrate a track record of outstanding research, and commit to excellence in education and student mentoring. The selected candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Preference will be given to mid‑career applicants; senior faculty are expected to lead within the department and promote interdisciplinary research throughout the University in the field of Advanced Materials.
