As a Graduate Engineer III in Land Development, you will be responsible for entry‑level professional engineering work including developmental assignments involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks under close supervision.
A Typical Day Might Include- Responsible for designing specific system components for the overall design effort.
- Performs design calculations, prepares equipment or material specifications, and provides direction to technical support or drafting personnel.
- Assignments require the investigation of a limited number of variables; supervisory assistance is provided on unusual problems and possible solutions.
- Have experience in developing working drawings for civil site plans (layout, plan and profile, grading, drainage, and paving).
- Have experience with the planning and design of facility layout and site design projects.
- Possess drainage design experience is preferred;
Cascade 2001 and/or ICPR Version 4 is preferred. - Possess strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Determines additional information that is needed from internal clients and coordinates them directly with LJA.
- Makes basic decisions regarding alternative procedures when information is not given.
- Applied prescribed methods to complete limited and specific portions of the broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
- Adjusts and correlates data.
- Recognizes discrepancies in results and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
- May exercise limited judgment in making preliminary method selections and the adoption of alternatives.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required.
- Certified Engineer‑in‑Training
- 4+ years of post‑graduate experience or master’s degree and 1-3 years of post‑master’s experience.
- Perform civil engineering plans preparation in water and wastewater distribution and conveyance infrastructure, focused on site design project components including site layout, infrastructure piping, roadways, paving, grading, drainage, and stormwater infrastructure.
- Reviews of contractor submittals for conformance with contract plans and specifications, and evaluate requests for information as part of engineering services during construction.
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to build strong relationships
