Job DescriptionIn this role you will be part of the Electrical team for Hospitality, Entertainment and Healthcare projects located in the Maitland, Tampa or South Florida offices.
What a day at EXP has in store for you- Effectively lead and mentor design‑level staff in both technical and non‑technical skills.
- QC own work and the work of other staff (drawings, RFI answers, submittal reviews).
- Collaborate with project manager to determine deliverables that meet project budget.
- Execute deliverables to meet project budget.
- Represent EXP in project meetings and site visits; document results as required.
- Solve complex problems within time and budget constraints.
- Develop, monitor and successfully execute electrical work plans to meet schedule and budget.
- Educate clients on code requirements during meetings and design charrettes.
- Prepare studies and reports for electrical systems and present findings to clients.
- Develop tools or standards to improve efficiency and quality of EXP work product.
- Be an expert in specific electrical requirements for at least one market sector.
- Evaluate value‑engineering items with respect to EXP’s level of risk.
- Implement Basis of Design narratives into DD and CD drawings.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of lighting, normal and emergency power, and fire alarm systems.
- Perform field verification and take‑offs of existing systems for renovation projects independently.
- Lead meetings with contractors during bid phase to review design details.
- Evaluate contractor pricing and cost estimates.
- Operate at a “responsible charge” level to meet EXP’s design and quality standards.
- Deliver internal and external technical presentations.
- Participate in voluntary training opportunities such as vendor lunch and learns.
- Contribute positively to EXP and local office culture.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in related design of Hospitality, Entertainment, Healthcare, Life Sciences and building projects.
- Engineering Degree (BS Architectural Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, or equivalent).
- Proficient in Revit MEP.
- PE License preferred but not required.
- Ability to travel locally.
