MS offers a range of banking and lending products for Financial Advisors and their clients, including brokerage, investment advisory, financial and wealth planning, annuities, insurance and retirement, and enhanced lending, mortgage, cash management and deposit capabilities.

We are seeking a high potential Commercial Real Estate Lending Underwriting Transactor to help grow and manage the Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) CRE lending platform serving UHNW clients (generally clients with a minimum net worth of at least $50 million) of WM. The role is for either the Purchase, New York or Coral Gables, FL office and will support and collaborate with the UHNW Senior Lending Transactors (SLTs) and Asset Managers (AMs) throughout the US.

Position

Summary
  • Position goal is to support the UHNW CRE Lending team, regional Senior Lending Transactors, Asset Managers, and clients in managing and delivering the UHNW CRE product for Morgan Stanley’s Private Bank.
Responsibilities
  • Support Lending transactors in the execution and maintenance of Commercial Real Estate secured loans on Morgan Stanley’s balance sheet.
  • Engage in ongoing portfolio maintenance including monitoring loan covenants, loan servicing, and ensuring accurate and timely update of loan portfolio metrics/reports.
  • Conduct annual relationship and loan reviews to monitor collateral performance during the term of the loan/relationship.
  • Evaluate UHNW Lending opportunities specific to commercial real estate, including evaluating the obligors, valuation of the underlying collateral, and alignment with the UHNW Commercial Real Estate Lending program.
  • Perform due diligence regarding collateral property and sponsors, including underwriting property cash flows, rent roll analysis, reviewing balance sheets, and understanding global cash flow of guarantors.
  • Identify key risks and mitigants related to existing loans and new opportunities; propose structural protections and terms to mitigate risk.
  • Prepare and/or assist with credit memoranda outlining transaction purpose, strengths, risks, mitigants, financial/collateral analysis and key terms to support recommendations.
  • Assist in efficiently managing the transaction cycle through final credit approval, documentation, closing and initial funding, coordinating with CRM, Loan Operations, Compliance, In-house Counsel, and other stakeholders.
Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree required;
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in commercial real estate lending, origination and/or credit analysis;
  • Private Banking Lending experience is a plus;
  • Formal credit training a plus.

Expected base pay for the role will be between $85,000 and $140,000 per year at the start, with potential for additional compensation such as commissions, incentives, and other benefit programs, depending on the position.
