Position: Financial Analyst 3 - Central Finance

Position Overview

The Senior Financial Analyst reports to the Senior Manager of Finance and assists with monthly financial analysis, forecasting, and annual budget preparation. This role requires strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to present financial data to senior leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth expenditures analysis to support decision‑making by executive leadership.
  • Prepare and coordinate documentation for financial analysis projects such as budgets, forecasts, projections, and expense performance presentations.
  • Perform financial forecasting and reconcile internal accounts.
  • Extract data from business application systems and provide detailed analysis at university, division, and department levels; present information to the AVP of Financial Planning and Analysis and Chief Budget Officer.
  • Ensure month‑end close and reporting, including estimates and accruals, are completed timely and in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist the Executive Director of Finance with preparing, examining, and analyzing accounting records and monthly financial packages for accuracy and conformance to reporting standards.
  • Lead collaboration with central finances on the balance sheet project, analyzing and segregating consolidated accounting records between Gables/Rosenstiel and UHealth/MSOM entities.
  • Create and maintain policies and procedures for processes under responsibility (e.g., external interest, investments, PP&E, pension, NARR).
  • Assist with visual enhancement and development of the annual plan of operations presentation.
  • Support the Executive Director and the AVP of Financial Planning and Analysis operationally and on other projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (required). Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience; knowledge of MS Excel required.
  • Preferred:
    Experience in higher education and/or health service industries; experience in a central office setting; financial modeling and database management skills.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines; teamwork and independent work abilities.
