The UM Police Department has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Police Officer to work in the Coral Gables Campus.
Starting salary: $60,008 to $65,998 with additional monthly enhancement raising the annual pay range to $74,024 to $80,014.

The University of Miami Police Department (UMPD) is dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment on the Coral Gables Campus.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Protection of life and property
- Uniformed patrol, detective work, community policing, directed patrol, canine officer duties
- Provide law enforcement services on campus
- Special services to the University community
- Work during periods of severe weather, natural disasters, or hazardous situations
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform in alignment with the University's values
- Respond to emergency calls
- Preservation of public peace
- Enforce state laws and county ordinances
- Facilitate safe traffic flow
- Conduct investigations and file reports
- Arrest violators, administer first aid, patrol areas
- Observe and report unsafe conditions
- Assist visitors, provide directions
- Coordinate motorist assistance
- Perform administrative tasks, deliver reports
- Provide escort, work special events
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge:
- Modern police methods and practices
- Geography of relevant areas
- Acquire and demonstrate knowledge of laws, ordinances, and procedures
- Clery Act, Title 9
- Computer aptitude for paperwork and data input
Skills:
- Use and care of firearms and gear
- Effective communication, critical thinking, public speaking
Abilities:
- Establish effective relationships
- React to emergency situations, prepare reports, administer first aid
- Use office equipment, physical strength for suspects
- Analyze situations, detect criminal activity, mediate disputes
- Understand and carry out instructions, promote cooperation
- Apply CIT aptitude, assess situations
Supervision:
Provide direction to staff, supervise officers
Reports to assigned commander or officer
Qualifications:
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- FDLE certification
- 54 college credits or equivalent experience
- U.S. citizen, pass background investigation
- Law enforcement certified in Florida
- No more than 5 moving traffic citations
- Education/Training: 54 college credits or equivalent
