Location: Coral Gables, FL (preferred) or Remote within the United States (Eastern Time Zone)
About Let’s PrototypeAt Let’s Prototype, we transform ambitious ideas into real products.
We design medical devices, AI-powered products, Industrial IoT systems, robotics, and consumer electronics for startups, inventors, and companies around the world.
No production maintenance.
No legacy products.
No repetitive engineering.
Every project is different.
Every product presents new technical challenges.
We’re looking for an engineer who enjoys solving complex multidisciplinary problems and developing products from the ground up.
About the RoleAs an Embedded Systems Engineer, you’ll lead the electronic architecture of innovative products, from the concept stage through the development of fully functional prototypes.
You’ll work across hardware, firmware, and IoT, collaborating closely with industrial designers, software engineers, and product managers to create reliable, manufacturable, and scalable electronic systems.
This role combines electronics, embedded software, systems architecture, and applied R&D.
Responsibilities Hardware Design- Design custom PCBs from concept through manufacturing.
- Create electronic schematics, PCB layouts, and production files.
- Perform DRC, DFM, and IPC compliance reviews.
- Select electronic components and analyze datasheets.
- Design power supply and battery management circuits.
- Design low-power embedded systems.
- Integrate sensors, wireless modules, and embedded peripherals.
- Develop embedded firmware using C/C++.
- Work primarily with ESP-IDF and FreeRTOS.
- Design modular and maintainable software architectures.
- Develop communication protocols using UART, SPI, I2C, and BLE.
- Develop communication protocols using UART, SPI, I2C, and BLE.
- Define complete embedded systems architectures.
- Design IoT connectivity solutions using Wi-Fi, BLE, and LTE.
- Integrate cloud services, including AWS IoT Core.
- Design secure OTA update mechanisms.
- Implement and support telemetry and remote diagnostics systems.
- Debug hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and laboratory equipment.
- Perform prototype testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Research new technologies and evaluate innovative solutions.
- Develop TinyML and Edge AI applications for embedded systems.
We’re looking for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical problems.
- Experience with KiCad, EasyEDA Pro, or similar EDA tools.
- Strong embedded C/C++ programming skills.
- Experience with ESP
32 platforms. - Experience with FreeRTOS.
- Experience reading and interpreting component datasheets.
- Knowledge of low-power embedded system design.
- Ability to work across both hardware and firmware.
Experience with any of the following technologies or areas is a plus:
- STM
32 microcontrollers. - BDC/BLDC motor control.
- LVGL.
- AWS IoT.
- Edge Impulse.
- Tensor Flow Lite Micro.
- Python.
- Git.
- AI-assisted coding tools, such as Codex or Claude Code.
- Experience working in R&D environments.
You’ll design products before they exist.
One month, you may design the architecture of a connected medical device.
The next, work on an AI-powered wearable.
Then, on an Industrial IoT platform or a robotics system.
You’ll be part of a small, highly technical engineering team where technical decisions matter and you’ll have a direct influence on every product we develop.
If you enjoy variety, technical depth, and continuous learning, this is the right environment for you.
Success in Your First Six Months- Deliver manufacturable PCB designs with minimal iterations.
- Develop reliable and maintainable embedded firmware.
- Become a trusted technical reference for hardware architecture.
- Improve engineering processes and technical documentation.
- Contribute innovative ideas across multiple projects.
People who enjoy:
- Designing electronic systems from scratch.
- Solving multidisciplinary engineering challenges.
- Building new products instead of maintaining legacy systems.
- Experimenting with new technologies.
- Transforming ideas into real products.
If you’ve ever designed your own PCB simply because you wanted to learn something new, experimented with embedded systems at home, or enjoy developing products from a blank page, we’d love to hear from you.
