Summary
The OB/GYN is a physician who specializes in Women’s Healthcare and is trained to target reproductive health, family planning, pregnancy, fetal development, labor and delivery, surgery, menopause, hormonal disorders, and disease as applicable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Obtains and records information about patient's medical history.
- Participates in administrative duties including maintaining EHR, documenting accurately, timely, and thoroughly in accordance with organizational standards and peer review.
- Obtain and maintain privileges at local community hospitals.
- Provides outpatient treatment services in office location and inpatient obstetrics and gynecology services at partner hospitals.
- Follows all policies and standard practices of the organization, partnering hospital, and guidelines of medical licensure.
- Perform health screenings to include pap smears, pelvic, and breast exams.
- Treats diseases of female organs.
- Family planning to include birth control management and fertility issues as applicable.
- Provides treatment of menopause and hormonal disorders to include testing, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Monitor and treat patients during preconception, pregnancy, and childbirth. Includes prenatal advice on delivery and postnatal care.
- Coordination with other providers for continuity of care.
- Refers patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment.
- Order, execute, or analyze necessary tests, screenings, biopsies, scans, etc. to effectively diagnose or provide information on patient's condition.
- Administers or prescribes treatments and drugs and performs cesarean sections or other surgical procedures as needed or appropriate to specialty training to preserve patients’ health and deliver babies safely.
- Inoculates and vaccinates patients to immunize patients from communicable diseases.
- Represents the organization during itineration, mission events, etc.
- Strives to meet spiritual, mental, and emotional needs of patients as appropriate and available.
- Oversee advance practice providers (Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses).
- Call coverage will be required for after hours and weekends.
- Directly supervises assistants (nurses or medical assistants) especially those to whom medical tasks or procedures have been delegated.
- Assists the Chief Medical Officer with performance improvement projects and with annual evaluations of directly supervised staff as needed or requested.

- All team members will be involved in the process of improving quality incomes.
- Team members will participate in the review and evaluation processes of practice performance and help to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Team members will participate in Grace Health's advocacy program.
- On occasion, physicians may be required to provide cross coverage for other area providers. Due to the health professional shortage in this area covering non-health center patients for other providers can be required to cover sickness or vacation. This cross coverage is provided to ensure ongoing medical care of community patients.
