- Provides advanced life support care to patients who are ill and/or injured.
- Administers direct care to the patient of all age groups under the direction of an emergency medical physician, emergency physician’s assistant, and emergency advanced registered nurse practitioner or utilizes approved EMS medical protocols if transporting a patient.
- When not performing transports, the paramedic will augment the emergency department staff and function under the job description of Paramedic in the Emergency Room.
- Ensures adherence to hospital and department policies as well as paramedic scope of practice
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required
- Paramedic Licensure by the Kentucky Board of EMS
- Valid Kentucky Motor Vehicle Operator’s License
- Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS) through the American Heart Association
- Valid Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certifications (PALS) through the American Heart Association. This may be acquired within 90 days of employment.
- Valid Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) through the American Heart Association
- Other certifications and specialty training as required by the Kentucky Board of EMS
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- High school diploma or GED
