- The primary responsibility of a Kentucky Early Intervention System (KEIS; formerly “First Steps”) provider is to evaluate and provide treatment for pediatric patients between the ages of birth and three years with needs in the areas of physical, social-emotional, self-help, communication, and cognitive development.
- KEIS Providers at APT, while working primarily in children’s natural environments (homes, daycares, community centers, etc.) also have the opportunity to work in other APT offices and contract locations, depending on the counties/areas served.
- PTs, OTs, SLPs, and Developmental Interventionists interested in any of these settings can apply for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (all disciplines):
- Work closely with patients’ caregivers and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) through a Coaching Model. Accurately document treatment sessions as well as progress or evaluation reports in detail.

- Maintains professional/technical competencies and proficiencies for job responsibilities and upholds federal/state licensure and ethical expectations.
- Examines and evaluates children from birth to age 3 with a variety of congenital and orthopedic conditions to improve mobility through skilled gross motor interventions including but not limited to gait training, equipment and orthotic management, neuromuscular re-education, and therapeutic exercises.
- Our ideal candidate holds a doctoral degree in Physical Therapy and an applicable and current, unrestricted license to practice (or in the process of obtaining license).
- Evaluate children from birth to age 3 for fine motor development, visual motor development, sensory processing and modulation differences, executive functioning skills, and more in order to determine impact on activities of daily living (ADLs), rest and sleep, education, play, leisure, and social participation.
- Our ideal candidate holds a masters degree in Occupational Therapy and an applicable and current, unrestricted license to practice (or in the process of obtaining license).
- Evaluate and treat children from birth to age 3 for speech, language, oral motor, voice, fluency, articulation, or social communication disorders to achieve highest level of functioning and prevent regression.
- Our ideal candidate holds a masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology and an applicable and current, unrestricted license to practice (or in the process of obtaining license).
