About
The Role
Role Overview:
Basedat BCA Automotive’s Corby VMU, the H.G.V Technician is responsible for carrying out service and repair work of the BCA Automotive fleet efficiently and competently to required level of quality and within standard times wherever possible.
Reporting to the Head of Workshop Operations Corby, the post holder’s key responsibilities will be, but not limited to:
- Diagnostics, investigations into intermittent faults, using manufacturer-specific diagnostic tools.
- Major Component Overhauls, performing repairs including engine rebuilds, gearbox overhauls and drive train issues.
- Providing "on-the-tool" training and guidance to apprentices and technicians to improve the overall technical capability of the workshop.
- Carrying out routine preventative maintenance inspections to the BCA Automotive fleet in accordance withDVSA and BCA Automotive Operating Licence requirements and record all defects found and rectification work undertaken accurately.
- The servicing and repairing of the BCAAutomotive fleet.
- Conducting MOT inspections and QC checks where required to DVSA standards.
- Ensuring that all job cards and service/inspections sheets are completed properly and legibly.
- Ensuring that work requirements and expectations are met, through the provision of quality workmanship.
- Ensuring that all company vehicles and property, including workshop tools and equipment, are handled with duecare and attention at all times.
- Complying with company health and safetyand environmental procedures by using safe working practices at all timesand reporting any potential hazards/incidents to the Head of VMUOperations.
- Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness in the workshop.
- Working and behaving to a professional standard at all times.
Person Specification:
The ideal candidate will possess.
- Technical qualification (NVQ Level 3 /City & Guilds in HGV Maintenance) and 1+ years post-qualification proven HGV experience repairing & maintaining vehicles.
- Proficiency in Jaltest or manufacturer diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work independently or as partof a team, use on own initiative and actively seek solutions to problems.
- Strong understanding of DVSA standards.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Current driving licence.
- Experience with in a Main Dealer network.
- Ideally with a current LGV C+E Licence butnot essential. (Potential opportunity may be available for in-house training for the right applicants to obtain LGV licence).
Job Type:
Full-time, Permanent – Multiple shift patterns available Day and Night. £23/£24/hr plus shift allowance where relevant and joining bonus.
£35,000 - £40,000 plus car allowance (OTE up to £52,500)
