R&D Packaging Specialist

Up to £40,000pa d.o.e, 33 days holiday, Monday to Friday day shift 40hrs per week, Permanent, Immediate start, Training, Employee Health Scheme

Due to continued success and expansion plans, a UK Head Office location of a global manufacturing company have an exciting opportunity for a R&D Packaging Specialist to join them. Working closely with cross-functional teams including Operations, Procurement, Quality and Commercial, you will manage packaging projects from concept through to launch, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required specifications:

  • Lead and manage packaging development projects from concept through to commercialisation.
  • Research, develop and test new packaging materials, formats and technologies.
  • Coordinate packaging trials and evaluate performance, quality and compliance requirements.
  • Create and maintain detailed project plans, time lines and documentation.
  • Liaise with suppliers to source and assess packaging materials and solutions.
  • Ensure packaging specifications, technical documentation and records are accurately maintained.
  • Support business sustainability objectives through the identification of innovative and environmentally responsible packaging solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure successful product and packaging launches.
  • Monitor industry trends, legislation and emerging technologies relevant to packaging development.

The ideal candidate will have a strong combination of technical packaging knowledge alongside excellent administration, planning and project management skills.

  • Degree qualified in Packaging Technology, Materials Science, Polymer Science or a related discipline.
  • Strong administration and organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent planning, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and technical documentation.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience within the packaging industry in an R&D, Packaging Development or Packaging Technologist role, we will also consider experience within the food manufacturing industry, particularly where packaging development has formed a significant part of the role.
