Recruitment and Retention IncentivesRecruitment and Retention Bonus may be available for clinicians newly hired with California Correctional Health Care Services. Eligible clinicians may receive a one‑time $10,000 stipend after six months of employment and a monthly differential totaling $20,000 during the first year. ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Mental Health Program Manager, the Senior Psychologist, Supervisor:
- Provides general supervision of Psychologists and, depending on location, directs specialized psychological assessment and treatment programs.
- Directly supervises Office Assistant, Office Technician, Office Services Supervisor II, Health Program Specialist I, Psychiatric Technician, and Recreation Therapist.
- Participates in hiring of new employees and reviews/recommends research projects.
- Reviews second‑level inmate appeals and provides clinical consultation to custodial staff.
- Performs special assignments requested by the Chief Psychiatrist.
License:
Must possess a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology and an earned Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an institution meeting Section 2914 of the Medical Board of California’s Business and Professions Code.
Experience:
Either
- One year of experience as a Psychologist Clinical, Correctional Facility, or Staff Psychologist in California state service.
- Two years of postdoctoral/post‑internship experience involving assessment, treatment, and training, research, consultation, or program planning in mental health services.
Applicants who are not yet licensed by the California Board of Psychology will be admitted to examination; they must secure a license before appointment.
