Job Description and DutiesUnder the supervision of the Chief Physician and Surgeon, Correctional Facility (CF), the Nurse Practitioner (NP), CF assesses and manages the health care needs of patients in ambulatory, inpatient, and specialized clinical settings. The NP, CF performs physical examinations and therapeutic procedures; interprets routine laboratory and imaging results; and educates and counsels patients regarding matters pertaining to their physical and mental health.
The NP, CF may also be assigned call duties with back up supervision by a physician manager.
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 17, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base.
Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.

Minimum Qualifications- Possession of a current license as a registered nurse in California. (Applicants who do not meet this requirement will be admitted to the examination, but they must secure the required license before they will be considered eligible for appointment.)
- Possession of a current certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the Board of Registered Nurses. (Applicants who do not meet this requirement will be admitted to the examination, but they must secure the required certificate before they will be considered eligible for appointment.)
