Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
General preventative maintenance, repair, rework of all machines, production equipment and building.
Essential Functions:
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Rework and rebuild machinery and equipment in plant such as saws, cranes and welders to machinery specifications and /or best general industry repair practices.
- Perform preventive maintenance on machinery according to machine specifications and planned plant programs.
- Service and maintain company vehicles.
- Follow safety lock-out/tag-out procedures in all situations of repair, rework or maintenance.
- Perform maintenance on the building and property as necessary.
- Report all problems and safety concerns to supervisor.
- Supports facility housekeeping and Health, Safety and Environmental Policy and procedures through department activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Minimum 2-3 years mechanical experience preferred.
- Valid Georgia driver’s license may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
The successful candidate should:
- Have proficiency in basic math.
- Be able to use hand tools, voltage meter, measuring instruments, and operate forklift and overhead cranes, lifting machines weighing up to 40 tons.
- Communicate efficiently.
- Be willing to learn daily and interact with a team.
- Have the ability to work through problem solving processes and present ideas.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required.

Maintenance technicians often need to lift heavy equipment or parts, which can vary in weight but may require lifting up to 50 pounds or more. The job involves significant amounts of time spent standing and walking throughout the manufacturing facility, sometimes for extended periods.
Precision and skill are required for manipulating tools, handling small parts, and performing intricate repairs or installations. The work can be physically demanding, requiring stamina to perform tasks that may involve bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling into tight spaces. Operating machinery, power tools, and hand tools is common. This requires the ability to handle equipment safely and effectively.
Adherence to safety protocols is crucial to prevent accidents and injuries. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established safety procedures.
