Position SummaryUnder the leadership of the Director, Physician Services, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an active member of the Physician Services team that delivers medical care consistent with the strategic vision, goals, philosophy, and direction of Physician Services and CRHS. The NP is responsible for providing care to patients throughout their life cycles—prenatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric—while emphasizing wellness promotion, illness prevention, care of acute minor illnesses, and stable chronic illnesses for all life cycles.
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient clinical care in an ambulatory setting.
- Performs health maintenance exams with appropriate patient education for all age groups, including well‑child exams, adolescent exams and sports physicals, and adult physicals including pap and pelvic exams.
- Performs pregnancy confirmation and introduces pregnant patients into the prenatal program at the clinic; provides prenatal care in coordination with physicians.
- Examines patients with specific acute complaints or stable chronic illnesses, initiates treatment for identified conditions according to written protocol, and works closely with clinic physicians to refer patients with significant abnormal findings.
- Provides appropriate level of clinical and educational services as needed, that is age and condition appropriate.
- Participates in performance improvement (PI) projects.
- Provides assistance to physicians on epidemiological issues pertinent to the medical office.
- Maintains chart documentation, tracking and reporting systems as indicated for continuity of care.
- Follows all Physician Services and CRHS policies and procedures and ensures compliance with all federal and state laws, regulations, and JCAHO requirements.
- Mentors new employees as requested.
- Completes all required professional education including continuing nursing education hours and mandatory in‑services to maintain professional licensure.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
- Education:
Requires a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS), Health Science (MHS), or Medical Science (MM Sc). - Experience:
Requires two to four years of work‑related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. - Licensure, Registrations &
Certifications:- Maintains current state license as a Registered Nurse.
- Maintains current state certification as a Physician Assistant – Certified (PA‑C).
- Maintains a current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); if BLS verification is not current upon hire, it must be obtained within three months of hire.
- Maintains a current valid driver’s license and proof of minimum automobile insurance.
