Overview
Substitute Bus Driver (work as needed) —
CRISP COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM
.
Primary Function:
Provides for the safe operation of the assigned bus and control of the passengers while transporting to and from their assigned education center or school-related function.
- Drives the bus on designated routes according to the time schedule when transporting students to and from school.
- Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of the bus as required by department regulations.
- Fuels the assigned bus as needed.
- Delivers the bus to the fleet maintenance shop as directed by the pre-arranged monthly schedule.
- Submits all reports in a timely manner as required by the Department of Transportation.
- Attends bus driver safety meetings and bus driver training sessions.
- Operates school bus in accordance with Georgia laws and the policies of Crisp County School District under all weather conditions.
- Abides by procedures and policies regarding safe and orderly operation of the bus including pick up and drop off procedures and loading/unloading procedures.
- Maintains a clean bus (inside and out) as prescribed by local transportation policies.
- Conducts emergency evacuation drills as required.
- Reports delays or accidents to the transportation supervisor in a timely manner.
- Maintains student discipline on the bus and refers serious infractions to the appropriate administrator.
- Ensures transported students observe all regulations prescribed by law and by State and local Boards.
- Demonstrates loyalty to the school system and administration.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent.
- Permits students to leave the bus only at regular stops unless there is written parental request and principal/administration authorization.
- Instructs students on safe riding practices, emergency evacuation, and other regulations.
- Enhances the climate of the bus shop and the morale of colleagues.
- Educational Level: High School Diploma or GED.
- Certification/Licensing: CDL driver’s license.

Skills:
Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, and physical stamina to perform essential duties. - Salary: $19.16/hr note:
Full-time work with a CDL may be discussed with the Director;
Full-time bus drivers have salaries in the range $23-45-$26.70.
