*** Starting pay per hour for Maintenance Worker is $18.40 to $22.08 depending on experience.

*** Additional 1.25 for ability to demonstrate the operation of light equipment, demonstrate MUTCD knowledge, and 2 years of experience in field.

*** Additional 1.25 for CDL.

*** Up to an additional $.50 for TDA.

Under general supervision, performs unskilled general labor in the maintenance of city streets, drainage system and infrastructure for the Public Works Department; operates hand and power tools and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.

• Performs general manual labor tasks in order to maintain streets, drainage system and infrastructure as assigned; duties may vary according to job assignment and individual skills.
• Performs maintenance and repairs within scope of authority and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; reports safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations.
• Operates and maintains a variety of specialized tools and equipment; assists with maintenance work on tools and equipment.
• Assists in the repair and maintenance of drainage system and roadways; inspects storm drains and drainage ditches; checks manhole covers; clears trash, brush, weeds and debris; digs and fills holes and maintains slopes; clears and repairs roadway and adjoining areas.
• Learns a variety of work tasks and procedures, including repair and maintenance of streets, roadways and infrastructure.
• Follows all safety rules and regulations to minimize risk of accidents.
• Responds as directed to perform emergency cleaning and maintenance work.
• Cross trains in all maintenance tasks.
• Responds outside of normally scheduled work hours in response to special events, natural disasters, emergencies, or critical incidents as determined by the City.
• Maintains the integrity, professionalism, values and goals of the City by ensuring that all rules and regulations are followed, and that accountability and public trust are preserved.
• Cooperates with co-workers professionally to accomplish work efficiently and effectively.
• Has regular, predictable attendance; attendance is a factor in continued employment with the City.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND one year of maintenance work experience.

• Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.

• Work is performed indoors and outdoors at work sites throughout the City; required to perform moderate physical work, and lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
