Swallowtail School seeks a Language Arts Ed Support Teacher to serve as the coordinator and service provider for students needing educational support.
EssentialJob Duties
- Meet with class teachers, School Director, and parents to support development of educational support plan;
- Facilitate implementation of educational support plan through:
- Provide 1:1 and/or small-group instruction, remediation, and support;
- Evaluate daily work and provide ongoing feedback and guidance to student; and
- Meet regularly with class teachers to discuss student progress and needs.
- Support teachers with teaching approaches appropriate to students with educational support needs, including but not limited to, individual meetings and professional development sessions during the year;
- Maintain benchmark assessment data and records to track progress over time;
- Prepare regular student progress reports to teachers as needed and, if required, formal reports for official student records; and
- Support Enrollment: observing and assessing prospective students, and reviewing applicant files as needed.
- An understanding of and commitment to upholding the Eight Principles of Waldorf Education;
- Special Education degree or certification, preferred;
- At least one year experience providing educational support services or other experience relevant to the position;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Willingness to be part of a culture that values professional growth and ongoing positive and constructive feedback;
- Commitment to furthering Swallowtail Waldorf School and Farm’s commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access;
- The desire and ability to work collaboratively with all members of the school community;
- The ability to adapt the curriculum to the skills and needs of a class or individual child; and
- Current CPR, First Aid Certification (within 30 days of hire)
This teacher will hold ten (10) to twelve (12) contact hours per week. Exact on-site hours to be determined by the Pedagogical Chair.
