Salary Information
- CG27 - $47,301.80 - $52,306.80 per annum, OR
- Where applicable, and in cases where the CG scale provides a lower rate of pay, compensation will be adjusted to align with the higher rate outlined in the Newfoundland and Labrador ECE Wage Grid.

Duties and Responsibilities- Collaborate to create learning experiences based on children's interests, strengths, and needs.
- Set up and adapt the physical environment to support children's growth and curiosity.
- Ensure a safe and healthy learning environment by applying knowledge of early childhood education health and safety standards in daily practices and routines.
- Observe, document, and use children's development to guide curriculum planning.
- Support research initiatives that enhance early childhood education.
- Mentor and support ECE students during placements by helping them apply theory to practice and providing feedback to build their skills.
- Work closely with ECE faculty to align centre practices with College educational standards.
- Maintain open and ongoing communication with families about their child's development.
- Engage families in their child's learning journey to strengthen home‑centre connections.
- Reflect regularly on ECE practices to continually enhance learning experiences.
- Build strong, respectful partnerships with colleagues, students, and faculty advisors.
- Support and guide ongoing projects that build on children's interests and curiosity.
- Stay current with research and best practices through ongoing professional development.
- Perform other duties related to ECE as needed.
- Completion of Early Childhood Education coursework required for eligibility for Level II Certification through the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Newfoundland and Labrador (AECENL).
- Candidates actively enrolled in an Early Childhood Education Diploma program who are eligible for Level I Certification through AECENL and are expected to complete their program within three (3) academic semesters may also be considered.
- Knowledge of child development theories and early learning methodologies.
- Knowledge of ECE health and safety standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues.
- Organizational skills to manage time and resources.
- Observation and documentation skills.
- Mentorship skills.
- Relationship‑building skills focusing on cultural awareness and inclusivity.
- Maintain confidentiality in interactions and information handling.
- Establish and maintain professionalism.
- Candidates must possess current and valid membership with the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Verification of credentials and applicable licenses, certifications, and/or professional memberships as required for the position.
- A current certified Criminal Records Check (issued by RCMP) or Criminal Records Screening Certificate (issued by RNC); a current certified Vulnerable Sector Records Check (issued by RCMP/RNC); a current Record of Immunization or Statement of Immunization; and a current copy of at least an emergency level (one day) diploma/certificate in first aid and CPR dealing with children deemed satisfactory to the Employer will be required.
- Candidates must provide an active Level II Certification through AECENL. Students nearing completion of an ECE Diploma program must provide proof of an active Level I Certification at time of offer, with the condition that they provide their Level II Certification within eight (8) weeks of completing their studies.
