We are seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher – Personal Development, Safeguarding and Community to join the Senior Leadership Team at Doubletrees School, supporting the next phase of school and Trust development.
This is a key strategic leadership role, responsible for Personal Development and Wellbeing, Safeguarding, Attendance and Behaviour, Post 16 provision, Pupil Voice and Community Links. Working closely with the Headteacher, governors and Trust colleagues, you will ensure that pupils feel safe, supported, heard and exceptionally well prepared for their next steps.
The successful candidate will be a model of professional excellence, taking a hands on, visible approach to leadership by working alongside staff to support, challenge and improve practice. They will be a highly reflective, evidence informed leader, able to identify priorities, implement improvement and clearly demonstrate measurable impact on practice, culture and outcomes for pupils.

As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will contribute to whole school leadership, deputise for the Headteacher when required and model inclusive, trauma informed leadership. The role includes a teaching commitment and may involve working across other Trust schools where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for Personal Development, ensuring a broad, ambitious and inclusive curriculum that develops character, resilience, independence and readiness for adulthood.
  • Lead whole school approaches to pupil wellbeing and mental health, ensuring early identification of need and coordinated, multi agency support.
  • Oversee attendance and behaviour, embedding relational, trauma informed systems that promote engagement, safety and belonging.
  • Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), supporting the DSL with day to day safeguarding operations and ensuring full compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education.
  • Ensure safeguarding, online safety and protective behaviours are fully embedded within curriculum, practice and school culture.
  • Provide strategic leadership of Post 16 provision, ensuring pathways are ambitious, well sequenced and aligned with Preparing for Adulthood outcomes.
  • Champion pupil voice, ensuring learners’ views directly inform curriculum development, provision and community partnerships.
  • Strengthen community links, developing meaningful partnerships with employers, colleges, training providers and local organisations.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative evidence to evaluate impact and report to the Headteacher, Governors and Trust.
  • Support day to day leadership of the school and deputise for the Headteacher when required.
  • Promote high expectations, professional standards and a strong culture of collaboration and wellbeing.
  • Lead and contribute to school self evaluation, improvement planning and quality assurance processes.
  • Model excellent teaching practice and support high quality CPD for staff.

You will:

  • Be passionate about safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusive education.
  • Have a proven track record of strategic leadership and contributing to whole school improvement.
  • Have strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, Early Help pathways and multi agency working.
  • Understand and champion trauma informed, attachment aware and emotionally literate practice.
  • Have experience of leading personal development, behaviour, attendance or Post 16 provision.
  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner, able to model high quality teaching.
