Job Summary

Live, work, and thrive in one of the UK's most desirable locations. Are you ready to take the next step in your career while enjoying an exceptional quality of life? Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is offering a unique opportunity to join our West Cornwall Community Mental Health Team as a Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry.

Why Cornwall?
  • Stunning beaches and unspoilt countryside right on your doorstep
  • A family-friendly environment with excellent schools and welcoming communities
  • A slower pace of life balanced with vibrant cultural, food, and arts scenes
The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking consultant who can provide strong clinical leadership and help shape the future of our services. Whether your interests lie in service development, research or teaching alongside clinical practice, we will support you to pursue them.

What We Offer
  • Generous relocation and recruitment package to make your move stress-free
  • Flexible and family-friendly working arrangements designed to support a positive work-life balance
  • Opportunities for professional growth, including involvement in research, teaching, and service innovation
  • The chance to make a real impact, influencing service development while delivering high-quality care
Main Duties

The Kerrier CMHT, with its two-consultant psychiatrist posts, covers a total population of approximately 93,000. There is a planned programme of demand and capacity mapping funded by Health Education England (CLEAR – Clinically-Led workforce Activity and Redesign) across community mental health services in Cornwall, and so these boundaries might be subject to change over the coming years. The post-holder will cover surgeries in the conurbation of Camborne and Redruth and surrounding satellite villages.

Outpatient clinics are primarily held in The Basset Unit on the Longreach Hospital site. The consultant contributes to clinical leadership within the team but is only medically responsible for individuals that he or she has contact with and is not expected to care‑coordinate. The post is supported by a 1.0 WTE Core Psychiatric Trainee who works between the team consultants.

Trainees are primarily community-based but will also have on-call duty commitments to the inpatient services. The consultant will share Clinical Supervisor duties for the trainee.
