Clinical Fellow – Emergency Medicine.

6th August 2026 for a 12‑month placement.
We need enthusiastic, motivated and innovative individuals to work in the Emergency Department in Cornwall. The 12‑month post offers an 80:20 split of clinical and fellowship time, with opportunities to increase your Emergency Medicine experience and develop your own interests. It is an ideal step toward an Emergency Medicine Specialty Doctor position or a Core/Higher training application.
Key responsibilities- Fulfil duties of the weekly timetable following a full‑shift pattern as part of the ED team, seeing the full spectrum of patients that present.
- Specific fellow duties (20 % of working time) will be discussed and agreed with the responsible supervisor.
- Partake in a non‑clinical ED project during fellow time – Major Trauma, Global Health or Ultrasound.
- Attend and contribute to weekly departmental teaching, including simulation, case discussion and guideline presentations.
- Follow departmental protocols and guidance, seeking senior clinical advice whenever necessary.
- Actively participate in providing teaching and training for medical students, nurse practitioners and other staff as appropriate.
- Participate in departmental and Trust clinical governance, audit and quality‑improvement processes.
- Take responsibility for your own ongoing CPD in conjunction with your allocated clinical supervisor.
You will have eight hours of non‑clinical time each week for a dedicated weekly EM training programme that includes in‑situ simulation, USS master‑classes and up‑to‑date guideline presentations. We also fund completion of ATLS, ALS and APLS during your 12‑month post.
Qualifications & experienceApplicants must be GMC registered and have worked in the NHS. We welcome applications from those who cannot work full time or wish to job‑share.
