Job overviewThe Cornwall Children's Community Speech and Language Therapy service invites an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our West Cornwall Team. The role involves managing a mixed community caseload of children aged 0-18, offering assessment, intervention, consultation and training via clinic appointments, setting visits and home visits.
As Local Area Co‑ordinator for the West South sub team, you will support the West Team lead with therapist allocations, routine enquiries and clinic space organisation.
Main duties of the job- Assess and intervene for children and young people with a range of clinical needs.
- Provide consultancy and training to families and multidisciplinary teams.
- Lead local area coordination: allocate therapists, respond to enquiries, organise clinic spaces.
- Participate in service development projects with peers.
- Provide mentoring or supervision to student SaLTs or support workers.
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
- Fully signed‑off the Newly Qualified Practitioner Competencies as set out by the Royal College of Speech Language Therapists.
- Registered with the Health Professions Council.
- Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Clinical experience working with autism, other neurodevelopmental disorders, and children and young people with complex conditions.
- Experience working with multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency teams.
- Leadership experience (e.g., coordinating a team or project; supporting others clinically and professionally).
- Experience evaluating service delivery, monitoring outcomes, and undertaking clinical audit.
- Participation in audit and research projects.
