Project Coordinator

Summary
:
Reporting to the Director, GIP Paving, the Project Coordinator will support daily management of heavy civil construction projects. The ideal candidate is a graduate of a Civil Engineering or Construction Management program with at least two years of on‑site experience and familiar with MTO projects. The role requires independent work, flexibility for overtime, nights, and weekends.
- Read and interpret contract drawings and specifications.
- Understand, read and implement project schedules.
- Monitor, record and report production rates and construction progress daily.
- Supervise subcontractor and own forces as required.
- Review field inspection reports from consultants throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Complete As‑Built Drawings.
- Job close‑outs – responsible for ensuring actions arising from minutes are completed.
- Identify, measure and keep record of quantities as per contract items and assist the project manager in preparation of monthly payment certificates.
- Assist the Project Manager and Site Superintendent in the cost coding and cost controlling process.
- Prepare submissions as required for the client.
- Report to the Project Manager.
- Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Attend site meetings as required.
- Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the client and project team.
- Ensure clients’ needs are met in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
- Keep the Project Manager and others informed about project status and issues that may affect safety, quality, client relations and profitability.
- Implement the environmental/safety/quality control programs as per protocols.
- Other duties as required.
- Civil Engineering Technician/Technology Diploma.
- 2+ years of practical construction experience.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office tools.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Expected hourly wage: $34–$38 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, internal equity and market factors.
