Reporting to the Supervisor, Recreation and Events, the Summer Student, Program Promotions Leader position is responsible for:

  • To design and conduct a program tailored for playground leaders that guides them in planning interesting programming for youth.
  • Distribute program information to traditional and social media outlets on Summer Playground Program activities and Special Events pending approval of the Playground Coordinator and Supervisor, Recreation and Events.
  • Collaborate and assist the Creative Arts Leader and Sports and Active Games Leader on workshops, special projects, and programming.
  • Assist playground leaders with specialized activities i.e. supershow videos.
  • Responsible for preparing a written evaluation of the summer program and supply to the Supervisor, Recreation and Events.
  • To be a representative of the City of Cornwall and always maintain outstanding public relations skills and professional image.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Full-time day student at a recognized secondary or post-secondary institution and be returning to full time attendance the fall of 2025.
  • Enrolled in a College or University Program related to Education, Physical Education, Recreation, etc.
  • Must have 1 year of experience in Summer Playground Program or similar program.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suites and Database programs.
  • Once hired the applicant must successfully complete the City of Cornwall’s Playground Leader Training Program; this training program will be made available to all successful applicants at the beginning of the program.
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate (must obtain Emergency First Aid before the first day of employment).

Qualifications:

  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.

If selected for this role, you will need to provide:

  • Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory VSC (Vulnerable Sector Check), at the candidate’s own expense.
  • Successful reference check (two work-related references, with a minimum of one being a direct supervisor)
  • Licenses, certifications, etc.
  • Verification of school status

All Summer Students must be Full-time day students at a recognized secondary or post-secondary institution and be returning to full time attendance in the fall of 2026.
