The Process Improvement Engineer will play a key role in enhancing manufacturing processes within our facility. This is a direct hire opportunity for a junior-level engineer who is passionate about continuous improvement and eager to develop new equipment and processes that boost quality, cycle times, and throughput, while reducing inefficiencies and safety risks.
Key Responsibilities- Champion continuous improvement initiatives on the manufacturing floor.
- Develop automated processes and equipment to improve efficiency and product quality.
- Implement PLCs and controls to error‑proof manufacturing processes.
- Design and develop fixtures, tools, and guides to reduce process variance.
- Assist with FMEAs and PPAPs as needed.
- Support installation, startup, and qualification of machines, fixtures, and process tooling.
- Create 2D & 3D drawings of products, tools, and machinery, including specialized tolerancing.
- Develop drawings, SOPs, manuals, and preventive maintenance schedules for production and maintenance teams.
- Support manufacturing with tooling repair, replacement, and redesign.
- Actively contribute to the company’s safety goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or automation engineering.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with automation PLCs (Allen Bradley or Siemens preferred).
- Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and group communication skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents, drawings, catalogs, data sheets, and vendor quotes.
- Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence; effective communicator with vendors, customers, and employees.
- Familiar with Lean production methods and ability to assist with their implementation.
- Project/task management skills: planning, prioritizing, organizing, scheduling, documenting, and sound decision-making.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Solid Works, MS Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook; ability to learn ERP software.
