Position Summary:
The Breastfeeding Peer Counselor will join our Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) Department and serve as a source of support for our mothers. The WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor is a professional who offers breastfeeding support and education to WIC participants. They provide accurate breastfeeding information to help promote breastfeeding in the community. The role is stationed in Corona, Queens and is part time hours.
Minimum Qualifications:- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bilingual Spanish/English is required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Outlook.
- Provides basic breastfeeding education and support to assigned WIC prenatal or breastfeeding participants.
- Documents the contacts in productivity record and submits the productivity record weekly to supervisor.
- Completes all assigned breastfeeding trainings.
- Follows the Peer Counselor contact frequency guidance.
- Receives a caseload of WIC mothers and makes routine periodic contacts with all mothers assigned.
Minimum $17.25 per hour, Maximum $17.25 per hour
Work Environment Type, Location, andSchedule:
Corona-Queens, Hybrid, Tuesday 9:00 am- 5:00 pm, Thursday 8:00 am- 3:00 pm, Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
