Human Resources Specialist
A well-established construction and infrastructure contractor is seeking an HR Specialist with a strong focus on Talent Acquisition to support recruiting efforts across corporate, field, and operational teams. This is a hands‑on role ideal for an HR professional who enjoys full‑cycle recruiting while also contributing to broader HR initiatives when hiring volume fluctuates.
Base pay range$60,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr
The role partners closely with leadership and operations teams to support workforce planning, deliver a strong candidate experience, and ensure compliance with HR best practices—particularly within a construction and field‑driven environment.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with department leaders to understand hiring needs and support short‑ and long‑term workforce planning.
- Manage full‑cycle recruiting, from requisition intake through offer acceptance.
- Open, manage, and track requisitions within the ATS, ensuring alignment with approved headcount and budgets.
- Develop and execute effective sourcing strategies using job boards, referrals, direct outreach, and agency partnerships.
- Screen candidates, conduct initial interviews, coordinate interview panels, and manage candidate communications.
- Support compensation discussions by aligning offers with internal equity and market benchmarks.
- Prepare and extend employment offers and coordinate pre‑employment processes.
- Track and report recruiting metrics such as time‑to‑fill and pipeline health.
- Ensure a consistent, compliant, and positive candidate experience.
- Provide day‑to‑day HR support to employees and managers regarding policies, procedures, and HR programs.
- Assist with onboarding activities, including new hire orientation and coordination with payroll and benefits.
- Support HR initiatives such as performance cycles, engagement programs, training, and compliance efforts.
- Maintain employee data accuracy within HRIS and ATS systems.
- Assist with employee relations documentation and elevate matters as appropriate.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes, tools, and workflows.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of HR experience, with a strong emphasis on full‑cycle recruiting.
- Prior experience supporting construction, field operations, or skilled trades hiring strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of California employment laws and HR best practices.
- Experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HRIS platforms.
- SHRM‑CP, PHR, or equivalent HR/Talent Acquisition certification.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple requisitions and priorities.
- Excellent communication, judgment, and relationship‑building skills.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, operational environment.
- Primarily office‑based with occasional visits to construction or field sites.
- Must be comfortable working in compliance with safety and ergonomic standards when visiting job sites.
