Chief Estimator

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead our Estimating Department and oversee all concrete and masonry estimating operations. This is a key upper‑management position responsible for driving bidding strategy, ensuring accurate and competitive estimates, and leading a team of six Junior Estimators. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and a strategic mindset to support continued company growth.

• Lead and manage the Estimating Department, including mentoring and developing a team of six Junior Estimators.
• Oversee all concrete and masonry project estimates from initial review through final submission.
• Review plans, specifications, and project documents to produce accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
• Utilize Bluebeam and other estimating/takeoff software to perform detailed plan analysis.
• Develop and implement estimating procedures, best practices, and departmental improvements.
• Collaborate with operations, project management, and executive leadership to align estimating strategy with company goals.
• Review bid proposals for accuracy, completeness, and profitability.
• Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
• Provide guidance on cost trends, labor rates, material pricing, and market conditions.

• 10+ years of experience in Concrete and/or Masonry Estimating (required).
• Strong background in plan reading, blueprint interpretation, and construction documents.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam and other digital takeoff/estimating software.
• Prior experience in a supervisory or management role; ability to lead and develop an estimating team.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and market pricing.

• Proven success leading large or complex bids.
• Experience improving departmental processes or implementing new systems.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strategic thinking.

• 10+ years of experience in Concrete and/or Masonry Estimating (required).
