Quality Inspector 2 – Brooks Instrument

Job Description

  • Inspects materials and products such as machined parts, forgings and castings for conformance to specifications, quality standards, dimensional accuracy, and customer requirements.
  • Verifies specified dimensions of product or material using a variety of standard inspection tools such as micrometers, indicators, and calipers.
  • Visual inspection of product against applicable blueprints, and manufacturing plans.
  • Document inspection results in accordance with company procedures, manufacturing plan, and any additional work instructions.
  • Determines conformance of parts, materials, and processes to specifications.
  • Identifies and controls all nonconforming products.
  • Performs standard operations on coordinate measuring equipment.
  • Performs calibration of basic measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, etc.
  • Assists in performing receiving inspection operations checking for conformance to specifications and blueprint requirements.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on coordinate measuring and other inspection equipment.
  • Follows and complies with safety rules, regulations, and work instructions.
  • Operates CMM machines: runs Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to perform dimensional inspections on parts and assemblies, ensuring adherence to engineering specifications.
  • Issues quality alerts: identifies non-conformances and promptly issues quality alerts to notify relevant departments and initiate corrective actions.
  • Documents findings: records inspection results accurately in quality systems and maintains traceability of inspected parts.
  • Supports investigations: assists in quality investigations and collaborates with engineering and production teams to resolve issues.
  • Follows SOPs and standards: adheres to standard operating procedures, safety guidelines, and ISO quality standards.
  • Meets attendance policy requirements.
  • Contributes to team effort by assisting in areas as needed.
Experience and Skills
  • Experience operating CMM equipment and interpreting measurement data.
  • Familiarity with quality alert systems and containment protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical documentation.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T and inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience using micrometer, calipers and other hand measuring tools.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Ideal Candidate
  • Ability to perform job functions with little or no supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Willing to work overtime as required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand and sit.
  • Occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision.
  • Work environment includes front-office and manufacturing, with some changes of temperature.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
