Position SummaryResponsible for managing restaurant operations in partnership with or in the absence of the Restaurant Manager. Uses discretion in daily management decisions and is accountable for ensuring effective execution of the Service Profit Chain (SPC) and Brand Promise. Primary responsibilities include providing excellent internal and external service, building restaurant sales and profit, and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
KeyDuties & Responsibilities
- Internal Service:
Recruits, selects, trains, develops, and evaluates restaurant employees; monitors staffing levels; implements training systems; identifies and develops internal candidates for management; ensures the restaurant operates friendly, fun, clean, and safe; treats all employees with care and respect; motivates high performance; recognizes and rewards employees; complies with labor laws. - External Service:
Manages daily activities to achieve operational excellence; ensures guests receive exceptional experiences; trains employees on guest service and food quality; monitors adherence to JIB systems and safety requirements; handles guest concerns promptly; maintains brand image through consistent service and cleanliness. - Higher Profits:
Partners with the Restaurant Manager to analyze operational and financial performance using tools such as I&E, quality reports, health inspections, and HACCP; identifies trends, develops action plans; increases sales and profitability by executing the SPC; monitors costs, budgets, and restaurant goals.
Education – High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience – Minimum 1+ years as a Shift Leader or Assistant Manager with full workstation certification, or 3+ years as an Assistant Manager with P&L responsibility.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities – Must be 18+ years old, complete Assistant Manager training, be Serv Safe certified, possess strong English communication, basic math skills, analytical and organizational skills, and a valid driver’s license. Must be self‑starter, ethical, and able to use computers and drive for travel and deposits.
Physical Requirements – Stand/walk approx. 85‑95% of shift; lift/carry 10‑65 lbs; move freely; operate equipment and computer keyboard.
