Overview
The City of Coronado is now accepting applications for the Recreation Leader position. This posting will be used to fill multiple vacancies across divisions. The questionnaire should indicate your area of interest. The working hours are varied and flexible; employment may be either Seasonal (up to 40 hours per week, not to exceed 89 days) or Temporary (not to exceed 29 hours per week or 1,000 hours per fiscal year).
FrontDesk & Daily Operations
Location: Coronado Community Center or John
D. Spreckels Center.
Responsibilities: provide phone and in-person customer service, register patrons for programs, and provide general information. This role may include preparing event spaces for use and maintenance of the center.
Location: Community Center, Club Room, or outdoor spaces.
Responsibilities: assist, develop, and lead recreation activities for youth including after school, preschool, teen activities and camps.
Location: Community Center or John
D. Spreckels Center.
Responsibilities: work with adults and seniors, provide customer service to patrons, and may assist, develop, and lead recreation programs.
Location: multiple locations.
Responsibilities: assist patrons with disabilities with activities.
Location: Community Center, John
D. Spreckels Center or Club Room.
Responsibilities: set up, take down, supervise, and serve as staff liaison during rental events.
Location: Community Center.
Responsibilities: assist with facility rentals including in-person and phone customer service, set up, take down, supervision, and staff liaison during rental events.
Responsibilities: drive trips for participants of all ages to local sites and amusements. Possession of a CDL license with passenger endorsement is required, but training can be provided.
Parks & BeachesLocation: John
D. Spreckels Center.
Responsibilities: work mainly in the field overseeing events, user groups, and programs in Coronado’s parks and beaches.
Responsibilities: provide support to youth and adult sport leagues and activities.
Scope: Participate in the development of survey instruments; conduct surveys of program participants to determine needs; interpret and record results; adjust programs based on findings. A typical pathway to knowledge and abilities is described below.
Experience: At least two (2) years of responsible experience in assigned recreation program area.
Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in recreation, leisure studies, or a related field.
