Position Summary

This position requires flexibility to work at any Del Mar College campus location and to work any shift (morning or afternoon) to provide adequate coverage of office business hours. It is under the direction of the Assistant Director of Admissions in the Student Enrollment Center and is responsible for participating in a variety of responsible, technical and clerical duties related to the Admissions Office.

Responsibilities include interacting directly with students, prospective students, and the community regarding admissions requirements, handling international student admissions, determining residency, assisting students with application processes, performing data entry of student applications and admissions documents, and performing all academic, early college programs and special programs admissions functions. Works closely with faculty, chairs, staff, and continuing education staff to ensure all admissions functions allow students to register.

Minimum Qualifications
  • One year of advanced study or training past the high school diploma or GED equivalency AND three years related experience, including: admissions/registration for educational courses, computer-based data entry, and/or office related customer service.
  • Four years related experience, including: admissions/registration for educational courses, computer-based data entry, and/or office related customer service.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of general office policies and procedures.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment including documents scanners, copiers, printers.
  • Proficiency in computer-based data entry.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills in public, in person and in writing.
  • High energy, attention to detail, and organization.
  • Ability to relate successfully with students and staff of various cultural, social or educational backgrounds.
  • Use judgment, discretion, and decision-making skills in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Problem solving by questioning, organizing, researching, analyzing, processing and interpreting information.
  • Work independently and as a team member.
  • Handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Learn and adhere to College policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Higher Education experience.
  • Proficiency in the use of Ellucian/Colleague software or other student information system and Microsoft Office applications.

Job Duties
  • Complete and maintain electronic student and prospective student files and/or delete records as required; maintain integrity of student data.
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal and internal regulations such as FERPA and the Texas Success Initiative.

  • Evaluate admissions applications received via Apply Texas or paper format for residency status and assign appropriate residency classification for tuition purposes.
  • Utilize Datatel Colleague, DMC’s student information system, daily to perform data entry of admissions applications, incoming transcripts, test scores, and miscellaneous documents needed to complete a student’s file.
  • Utilize Etrieve document imaging system to index, review, and maintain relevant documents in student records.
