About This Role

The Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Project Manager runs Quartet's field testing and special inspection operations in Grimes County and the surrounding Brazos Valley. You will build and lead a team of field technicians, manage multiple concurrent construction projects, serve as the day-to-day contact for contractors, owners, and engineers of record, and ensure every test and inspection meets project specifications and our ISO/IEC 17025 quality system.

This is a growth role: you will help establish and expand Quartet's presence in the region.

Responsibilities

Manage CMT and special inspection projects from proposal to final report: scope, fee estimates, staffing plans, schedules, budgets, invoicing, and closeout.

Schedule and dispatch field technicians daily across multiple active job sites for soils, concrete, asphalt, masonry, structural steel, fireproofing, and post-tension inspections.

Review field reports, laboratory results, and inspection logs for accuracy, completeness, and specification compliance before release to clients.

Interpret test results against project specifications, TxDOT, ACI, ASTM, and IBC Chapter 17 requirements, and document non-conformances and recommended corrective actions.

Serve as the primary point of contact for general contractors, owners, architects, and engineers of record; attend pre-construction and progress meetings.

Recruit, train, and mentor field technicians, and manage their certification plans (ACI, NICET, TxDOT, nuclear gauge).

Perform field work when needed, including concrete sampling and testing, density testing, and site observations.

Maintain compliance with the firm's A2LA accreditation, including equipment calibration, technician proficiency records, and internal audits.

Lead regional business development: identify upcoming public and private construction, build relationships with contractors and municipalities, and prepare proposals and SOQs.
