Job Description Summary
ADJUNCT – DENTAL HYGIENE:
The purpose of this position is to provide student supervision, instruction, and maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community in a classroom/lab setting or clinical setting during patient care.
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited dental or dental hygiene school through the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
- Three (3) years of clinical experience in the field.
- Current licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) through the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE).
- Current CPR / BLS for the Healthcare Provider certification.
- Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
- Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success. Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities.
- Experience teaching at the secondary or college level.

- Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline. Maintain a classroom/lab/clinical environment that promotes teaching and learning. Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction. Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and material to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes. Evaluate and grade students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes.
Advise students throughout classroom/lab/clinical hours as needed. - Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials. Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Maintain professional standards of competence in the discipline and teaching methodology through professional development in accordance with the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
- Clinical responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide personal direct student supervision during patient care. Provide students with guidance and instruction. Evaluate and grade student performance. Provide students with specific written and verbal feedback in an appropriate manner. Demonstrate a positive role model to students in all interactions between instructors, patients, students, and staff. Work as a team with the Clinic Coordinator. Support the Clinic Coordinator and Program Director to help assure effective clinical operation.
Comply with clinic policies and procedures stated in the Clinic Manual. Perform other duties as directed by the Clinic Coordinator and the Program Director.
