Overview
Education Specialist - Restorative Practice/Counseling and Mental Health
Provide training, support and consultation to the assigned school site team to develop the mindsets, practices, systems, and structures that schools need to effectively implement Restorative Practice Framework.
Education Qualifications- Master's Degree - required
- Licensed Professional Counselor or Texas School Counselor Certification or Licensed Master Social Worker - required
- Three years of counseling/social work experience.
- Experience with comprehensive counseling services and mental health programming mandates.
- Experience developing and presenting professional development through multiple media modes.
- Experience with managing budgets and implementing program requirements.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Support LEA's staff in the development of a strong school culture through the use of mental health and community resources.
- Implement effective mental health training, support, and use of resources.
- Facilitate and lead the professional development of the ESC Region 2 Counseling Cooperative.
- Supports LEA's counselors in creating developmentally appropriate mental health plans and student support programs.
- Supports LEA's counselors in their work to provide services to all students, fostering a clear understanding of diversity, ethnicity, and culture.
- Support LEA's counselors with guidance in responsive services.
- Ability to interpret complex data, problem solve, and provide high-quality technical assistance to stakeholders.
- Familiarity with disaggregating data and addressing the needs of special populations.
- Train, facilitate and model restorative circles and mediations to support student engagement and conflict resolution.
- Collaborate with school site administrators, staff, and district teams to integrate Restorative Practices into campus culture.
- Present Restorative Practices information and training to school staff, students, and families.
- Assist in appropriate use of fiscal and facility resources to support program goals and activities.
- Assists with effective operation of the center and pursues a common vision for the improvement of the center.
- Develops and participates in innovative practices and programs with the center, LEAs and other agencies.
- Observes ESC-2 policies, procedures, and professional practices.
- Participates in staff development activities, staff meetings and curriculum development activities as required or assigned.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Participates in required program meetings/trainings/events to meet program goals
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Provides for appropriate time, resources, and materials to accomplish Center goals including planning, implementation, and evaluation of program
- Assumes responsibility for correlation of center goals and objectives
- Engages LEAs through multiple communication modes to provide an exemplary level of technical assistance and services to each district and charter as specified by any applicable federal grant that funds this position
- Assists in planning and developing special project activities (e.g., grant proposals, interdepartmental services, and other customer-based projects)
- Develops services and products in area(s) of responsibility
- Provides leadership and technical expertise to assist LEAs in analyzing, interpreting, and documenting compliance for grant requirements; and develop and monitor timelines and goals to ensure LEAs meet all required submissions to TEA.
- Provides support and assistance to develop the capacity of campus administrators in all areas of state and federal title programs; including developing and delivering trainings to central office administrators regarding the rules, policies, and procedures related to state/federal programs and grant requirements
