The Math Department is seeking a motivated and successful student to serve as an Instructional Assistant for Developmental and possibly Co-Req classes. The purpose of the position is to assist the Instructor of Record in classroom activities. These activities will vary, depending on the needs of the instructor and students. This person will help the students enhance their mathematical knowledge to succeed in their course.
Minimum Qualifications- Level I: 12 college credit hours, “B” average for Math Classes
- Level II
: 60 college credit hours, “B” average for Math Classes - Level III
:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics or a Math-related field OR Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 21 college credit hours in Mathematics
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong mathematical skills and logical reasoning
- Ability to effectively articulate mathematical concepts
- Capable of working with students with different backgrounds as well as various academic levels and needs
- Prior tutoring experience
- Completion of Trigonometry or Calculus I
- Knowledge of Canvas
- Proficient with My Math Lab (Pearson) and a variety of calculators
- Ability to work independently and to take initiative in fulfilling responsibilities

Job Duties- Support the Classroom Instructor (inside and outside of class).
- Conduct individual and small group tutorials.
- Help and guide students with math related problems.
- Manage and create resources.
- Mentor students.
- Maintain an organized and neat classroom.
- Participate in on-going training.
- Meet with students outside of class for assistance.
- Communicate with students outside of class via phone, email, Canvas, My Math Lab , etc.
- Support the Classroom Instructor with special projects.
