Salary: $30 - $33 per hour DOE
This position will be assigned to one of the following counties, depending on employee preference:
Aransas, Bee, Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Kenedy, Refugio, or San Patricio County. The instructor works face‑to‑face and in virtual learning environments, delivering ESL instruction in compliance with Texas Adult Education and Literacy Content Standards while integrating civics and job‑skills. The instructor helps adult learners achieve educational, personal, and professional goals and builds a strong community in the classroom. Responsibilities include conducting student orientation and testing independently, monitoring progress per grant requirements, and ensuring weekly submission of student documents.
Occasional in‑person training at Del Mar College Heritage Campus is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
- One (1) year teaching experience in reading, writing, mathematics, and English language acquisition.
- Bilingual or equivalent in one language other than English.
- Computer proficiency.
- Compassionate with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to facilitate group learning and establish and maintain constructive relationships in the classroom.
- Two years direct teaching experience in ESL.
- Teaching Certificate.
- Plan, organize, and provide instruction in English with concentration on civics to meet state and federal grant requirements.
- Develop and deliver lesson plans and syllabi for in‑person learning and virtual instruction using a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies.
- Provide a caring and supportive learning environment that encourages adult learners’ responsibility and incorporates appropriate instructional strategies.
- Adapt curriculum to provide individual, small‑group, and/or remedial-level instruction to meet the needs of individual adult learners and subgroups.
- Maintain and complete the required AEL professional development hours as required by the Texas Workforce Commission.
