TERM ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR - MATHEMATICS POOL

Del Mar College – Corporate Services is hiring a Term Assistant Instructor to oversee the Math Learning Center (MLC) and provide tutoring and administrative support.

This role is full‑time (40 hours per week) and requires nights, weekends and travel to multiple campuses.

• Teach/tutor math‑related subjects such as developmental math, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, Calculus, Differential Equation, and courses related to Business, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Music, Kinesiology, Psychology.
• Assist with daily operations including record keeping and scheduling.
• Promote and advertise MLC resources, activities, and seminars at student functions.
• Train part‑time staff.
• Report on MLC attendance.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong mathematical skills and logical reasoning.
• Knowledge of college math courses including Algebra, Statistics, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Differential Equations.
• Ability to articulate and tutor mathematical concepts effectively.
• Ability to work with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and academic levels.
• Ability to adapt to various teaching styles and methods.
• Ability to incorporate technology into tutoring.
• Ability to expand and offer MLC services across all DMC campuses.
• Willingness to travel to multiple Del Mar campuses.
• Ability to design active learning spaces.
• Availability for special working hours, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to coordinate with other college departments for special events and promotional activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field.
• Minimum of 21 college credit hours in Mathematics.

• Master’s in Mathematics or a related field.
• Math tutoring experience in a college environment.
• Tutoring experience in Statistics, Physics, and Chemistry.
• Experience teaching math courses.
• Proficiency with calculators and math software (e.g., My Math Lab ).
• Knowledge of learning management systems (preferably Canvas).
• Supervisor experience, including staff evaluations, scheduling, and conflict resolution.
• Proficiency with data entry software such as Accutrack and Excel.
• Experience managing resources, checking inventory, and requesting supplies.
