GRANT-FUNDED ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) INSTRUCTOR POOL – Del Mar College – Corporate Services
Responsible for working with individual adult learners face‑to‑face and in virtual learning environments. Provide ESL instruction in compliance with Texas Adult Education and Literacy Content Standards while integrating civics and job skills into lesson delivery. Helps adult learners meet their educational, personal, and professional goals while building a strong community in the classroom.
Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and provide instruction in English with a focus on civics to meet state and federal grant requirements.
- Develop and deliver lesson plans and syllabi for in‑person and virtual instruction that utilize a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies.
- Provide a caring and supportive learning environment that encourages adult learners’ responsibility and incorporates appropriate instructional strategies.
- Adapt curriculum to provide individual, small‑group, and/or remedial instruction to meet the needs of individual adult learners and subgroups.
- Maintain and complete required AEL professional development hours as required by the Texas Workforce Commission.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
- One (1) year of teaching experience in reading, writing, mathematics, and English language acquisition.
- Bilingual or equivalent in one language other than English.
- Computer proficiency.
- Compassionate with strong interpersonal skills including communication.
- Ability to facilitate group learning and establish and maintain constructive relationships in the classroom.
- Two years of direct teaching experience in ESL.
- Teaching certificate.
