The Carpentry Instructor is responsible for providing classroom instruction, distance learning instruction, and practical shop experience to prepare students for employment in a variety of jobs in the field of Carpentry. The Instructor will teach courses related to the core skills used by carpenters in residential and commercial settings. Topics include safety, hand/power tool use, site preparation, measurement and layout, footings and foundation, construction framing, and other related topics.
Responsibilities- Teach assigned courses related to the core skills used by carpenters.
- Develop and use a variety of teaching methods to assist students with differing backgrounds.
- Evaluate student progress and provide ongoing feedback.
- Maintain a classroom environment promoting instruction and learning.
- Assist with marketing programs and recruiting students.
- Participate in department and college meetings, accreditation activities, and community outreach.
- Associate’s Degree in the discipline and four (4) years of industry-related work experience.
- OR high school diploma or GED with eight (8) years industry-related work experience.
- Plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus.
- Utilize varied teaching styles to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Employ instructional technologies in instruction.
- Teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
- Successful teaching or vocational training experience.
- Knowledge of teaching strategies that enhance student success.
- Experience teaching college-level online courses and/or in a LMS.
- Teach NCCER Carpentry program courses.
- Develop NCCER Carpentry curriculum and course content.
- Assist in maintaining NCCER program compliance activities.
- Procure, maintain, inspect, and operate various equipment and supplies necessary for program instruction.
