This is a temporary part-time summer position. The Kids Camp Monitor is responsible for monitoring/supervising students who are attending summer Kids Camp programs offered through the Del Mar College Continuing Education Department. The role performs a variety of non‑teaching duties that require the exercise of good judgement while working with children.
On a daily basis, the monitor is responsible for overseeing a group of up to 18 students, maintaining order during classroom instruction, travel to and from pick‑up and drop‑off locations, campus tours, and designated break and restroom periods.
On a daily basis, the monitor will verify IDs at pick‑up and ensure the authorized person has signed the student(s) out from camp.
Minimum Qualifications- Must be 18 years old or older.
- Ability to actively engage and be involved with children on a daily basis.
- Ability to use good judgement when responding to emergency situations.
- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with students, staff, parents, and the public.
- Ability to respond professionally and appropriately when dealing with children who may have special needs.
- One (1) year of work experience supervising or monitoring children in a classroom or camp setting.

- Ensures the safety of all students and maintains discipline among those students in a courteous but firm manner.
- Responsible for verifying IDs for authorized pick‑up or release of students.
- Enforces safety rules, intervenes when children may injure themselves or others, responds accordingly to emergency situations, and promptly notifies the program coordinator or program director in the event of an injury or unsafe incident involving children or staff.
- Assists Part‑time Instructors with the following:
- Compiling and submitting daily attendance sheets
- Ensuring classroom space is safe, clean, and attractive
- Guiding students to stay on task during classroom activities
- Maintains appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and the public.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
