Job Description Summary
The purpose of this position is to tutor mathematics students, enhance their mathematics knowledge and help them develop skills necessary to succeed in a variety of math courses. Tutors will utilize a collaborative and interactive process to enable and encourage students to become a more effective and independent learner.
Minimum Qualifications
• Current Del Mar College student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours while employed.
• Completion of at least 12 credit hours.
• At least a “B” average for all math courses.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong mathematical skills and logical reasoning.
• Capable of working with students from different cultural backgrounds, and various academic levels and needs.
• Ability to effectively articulate mathematical concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior tutoring experience.
• S.T.E.M. concentrated degree plan.
• Completion of Calculus I with high standing.
• Knowledge of learning management systems (preferably Canvas).
• Proficient with a variety of calculators and math software such as My Math Lab .

• Help and guide students with math related problems.
• Conduct individual and small group tutorials.
• Greet and assist students with signing in.
• Manage and create resources.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Maintain an organized and neat facility.
• Participate in ongoing training.
• Market and promote the Math Learning Center.
