Electrical Design Engineer - Flint Hills Resources
Role:
Electrical Design Engineer at Flint Hills Resources (FHR) Project Capability based at our Corpus Christi, TX site. This role provides engineering support for projects to advance the FHR Vision and increase business value creation. The engineer focuses on electrical distribution design, equipment design, and automation integration, acting as a liaison between various FHR capabilities to ensure alignment with project goals and provide key technology recommendations.
The role includes analysis of scope and technology selection and, when needed, creation of new engineering practices. Throughout the project lifecycle, the engineer provides cost-effective solutions for electrical infrastructure transformation using their knowledge and networks.
Our Team
We are an integrated Project Capability group leveraging experienced engineering, cost, scheduling, construction, and turnaround teams to deliver competitive projects. Travel to equipment testing and conferences is anticipated around 10-20%.
- Provide detailed review and approval of deliverables from engineering contractors to support engineering and procurement efforts
- Support key witness inspections of Factory Acceptance Testing and site-based Acceptance Testing
- Provide input into construction quality planning, commissioning planning, and oversight of electrical system testing procedures and execution for mechanical integrity and commissioning assurance for pre-start-up safety review sign-off
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks
- Support the RFI and NCR processes
- Collaborate with electrical asset management in early project phases to align long-term plans with current project objectives
- Manage the SKM model including load flows, fault current, relay coordination, and arc flash studies
- Review/Approve HAC analysis for each project per API RP500 and FHR standards, and complete final documentation
- Help design equipment solutions to meet project objectives
- Minimum of five (5) years of electrical work experience (project or industrial support)
- Experience evaluating new technology for application in an industrial facility
- Experience with engineering contractors and review/approval of designs and specifications
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without visa sponsorship
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with phased/gated project execution models
- Interdisciplinary knowledge across mechanical, chemical, instrumentation, controls, electrical, etc.
- Working knowledge of switch gear, transformers, VFDs, SKM Model, and HAC analysis
- Working knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, UL and CSA
