VDC Engineer

Overview

Jacobs is seeking an experienced Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Lead to manage and optimize digital delivery processes in the Advanced Manufacturing sector. This site‑based role may include a flexible home office location within the United States.

Base pay range: $111,100–$145,725 per year.

• Provide VDC/BIM/Digital Delivery management and leadership, aligning technologies with internal and client goals.
• Define digital delivery scope for project estimates and coordinate project technical setup and model deliverables.
• Create and implement Design and Construction BIM Execution Plans for EPCM.
• Integrate VDC tasks including 3D logistics, safety planning, 4D scheduling, 5D cost and quantity take‑offs.
• Coordinate use of Autodesk Construction Cloud Common Data Environment from design to construction.
• Kick‑off, manage, and track progress on clash detection for design teams and trade partners; lead clash resolution meetings.
• Serve as BIM Subject Matter Expert on design and construction projects.
• Manage model redline and as‑built processes; verify construction installation with model‑based practices.
• Develop project processes and lead mobile device training for field employees.
• Lead and facilitate reality capture, including progress reporting and weekly reports for remote team members with 360 photos, laser scans, and drone data.
• Offer field technical troubleshooting, support for software, model viewing, and mobile device applications.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and trade partners on trade modeling efforts and quality through construction.
• Consult during business development, proposals, and estimates.
• Recruit, manage, and mentor VDC staff; enhance team expertise through training materials and guidance.
• Provide daily on‑site presence and leadership; coordinate VDC activities with field operations.

• At least 7 years of experience in VDC/BIM roles within the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of BIM technologies and their application in manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, Revizto, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Experience with laser scanning and point cloud data management.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
• Proven track record of on‑site VDC leadership.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment, both on‑site and virtually.
• Experience developing and implementing BIM execution plans.
• Strong understanding of construction processes and MEP systems.
• Willingness to work on site at a project near Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
