Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Engineer with Unmanned Aircraft System Integration experience to join a cutting-edge startup in Cedar Creek, Texas. In this role, you will:
- Own electrical integration between payloads and UAS host platforms: power, signal, data, and arming interfaces.
- Define and document interfaces in interface control documents, aligned with our CLIK payload interoperability standard.
- Design and verify harnesses, connectors, and interface boards, and work EMI and grounding issues on the integrated system.
- Integrate with flight controllers and autopilots, including PWM, serial, and CAN interfaces.
- Plan and run bench, ground, and flight tests with the test team, and turn the data into design changes.
- Work directly with platform partners and customers on integration issues, and keep test reports and integration records current.
Required Skills & Experience
- BS in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or Aerospace Engineering. Military experience is welcome but does not substitute for the degree.
- At least 1 solid year of hands‑on experience integrating electronics on UAS platforms, and a strong background in integrated systems.
- Working knowledge of UAS power systems, flight controllers, and common data interfaces (PWM, UART, CAN).
- Hands‑on at the bench: comfortable with oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, DMMs, and soldering and rework.
- Clear technical writing; documentation will take roughly 30 to 40 percent of your time.
- Availability for extended hours and weekend work during test campaigns and program deadlines.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience with PX4 or Ardu Pilot, and MAVLink.
- Experience integrating payloads on military Group 1 to 3 UAS.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-810.
- Personal drone builds or other engineering projects outside of work.
